I Begin Again.

I can’t remember the last time I wrote a purely personal blog post. Facebook and spreading the word about various businesses online have gotten in my way. All of a sudden, my son is almost 5 years old and my daughter is a 2 1/2 year old princess CleoTasha who cracks me up and drives me crazy.

Tomorrow is Easter and we died Easter eggs tonight. A began slowly and carefully, but soon got carried away splashing colors, mixing one into the other and plopping eggs into one color after another waiting no longer than a couple of seconds in between each color change. Oooooook – time to clean up!

G broke his collar bone last week. He was spinning, pretending to be Nathan Drake, the hero of his current favorite video game Uncharted 2. A even asked him “What’s wrong Nathan?” today while he was playing… seems she’s caught on and wants to play along.

I started a gardening blog this week because I’ve become completely single minded in my daytime pursuits. All I want to do is dig and plant and water and mulch and compost and grow stuff. I’m DYING to get to home depot to spend too much money on stuff I need to fulfill this… need.

We spent a lot of money on cars over the last week. The Mitsubishi has been making loud squealing noises for months and when Jasper took the car to Strauss the guy said he had to order a part to fix it and he was having trouble getting his hands on it. We took the car back and weeks later brought it to Specialty Automotive in Brick on Rt. 88. These guys took a look and saw that the other guy stripped the bolt that held the belts in place that needed to be changed. They applied some heat to the bolt and got it off. HA! All told, that repair cost about $650

While the white car was in the shop, I got a flat in the van. My first flat tire. Jasper needed me to come home from Mom and Dad’s so he could drive to Lowes to get materials to fix the leaky water filter faucet in the kitchen sink. I came home and since the kids weren’t asleep yet, decided to pick Jasper up and take the kids along for the ride, hoping they would fall asleep before we got back home for the night. It was 9:30pm, about 40* outside and drizzling.

Driving in the rain at night plays tricks on your eyes. Everything is dark, but shiny with rain and headlights. I never saw the pothole but when I hit it the steering wheel jumped so hard I hurt my hand. The tire was flat. I pulled into a dark parking lot with one motion light. It was enough light for Jasper to get out and put the spare donut on the car. We all had to get out for a while so it didn’t fall off the jack. We were all cold and miserable, but he got it done. The next day, he fixed the faucet. G’s shoulder is on the mend and hopefully, by tomorrow, Abbie’s 101.9 fever will be a thing of the past.

Tonight I put together the kids Easter baskets. Jasper’s mom always hid theirs when they were little, so we hide them. Abbie’s is under my desk, G’s is behind the couch. Gotta go to bed – we need to get up early for an earlier mass tomorrow.

Thank you for all my Blessings God. Happy Easter. Amen.
